Jacek Buczny
I've published in the field of self-regulation and self-control. I received research training in Mark Muraven’s laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow (State University of New York at Albany, USA).
Currently, I am developing research in three domains: (1) basic mechanisms of self-control; (2) self-control change and development of self-control; (3) self-control and addiction (gambling, workaholism). In the first domain we’re looking at implicit mechanisms of self-control resources management, which are responsible for ego depletion. In the second domain we are trying to find explicit (e.g., standards activations) and implicit (e.g., evaluative conditioning) mechanisms of change and development in self-control. In the third domain I am principal investigator of a grant on the relationship between self-control and gambling. I investigate how changes in self-control level influence craving and the motivation to gamble.
